People without online presence often ask, “Why do I need a website? I’m not selling anything online, so why should I care?” One of the best illustrations I can give you is this:
Many times, my husband and I have been out shopping or traveling and we want to find something like a restaurant or a household goods. We’ll get out our iPhones and start searching the web for what’s available and also if they have a website. We want to know the hours, look briefly at their listed items or menu and if they have a phone number, we might even call. If they business doesn’t have a website, we don’t bother. We always choose people who have a legitimate web presence because we can usually trust they are open and their hours are correct. We also trust they are up-to-date with their information from menus to pricing. We even find hotels online when traveling. It’s just too convenient.
I’m typical of the average person who is looking for information. In fact, if you multiply my small experience times all the people who might have gone to your business, then you’ve just lost out on a ton of new customers which means, bottom line: money lost.
In today’s business world, it seems incredibly impossible that most businesses don’t have a website, but it’s true. According to USAToday, 7 out of 10 businesses still don’t have a website. New customers can’t find these businesses and they certainly couldn’t sell anything online even if they wanted to since the business doesn’t exist for those who are on their SmartPhones and computers.
What about going to business mixers? Can you hand out business cards to those who could bring you customers with your website on it? Can those business people go back to their offices and read about your company so they can use your services or send people to you? No, they can’t because you’re not online.
If 80% of the American people are online and spend more time online than watching the BoobTube, why is your business not online?
Fortunately, it’s easy to get a website and promote yourself. It’s even cost effective and affordable. In some cases, you can even do it yourself if you’re experienced with easy programs.
Gone are the days when websites were very difficult to configure and you had to be a rocket scientist to get online. Today, it’s really easy to make a cookie cutter site and then develop a website that gives you the boost you need to gain clients and get a leg up on the competition.
Most designers, like me, have a minimum charge for a basic site of 5-6 pages which can be completed in a couple of days and they will show you how to keep it current with spending only thirty minutes to an hour to update the information. It’s simple to add items to an online store, update menus and take reservations which go directly to your email.
The point is this, there is no reason for a small business not to be online with a professional site which gives people the information they need at their fingertips. The Technology Age is here and it’s going to stay. With the tools available online and reasonable prices from web designers businesses no longer have excuses.
Customers today are very savvy and chances are, if you’re looking online for things, so are your customers.
Isn’t about time to give me a call and see what I can do for you? You’ll probably be pleasantly surprised at how reasonable a website can be.
